Chicago Book Expo 2011

11/14/2011 By Ellen Beals Leave a Comment

Weighed Words just signed on to participate in the Chicago Book Expo 2011 this weekend, November 19 and 20, at the Uptown Goldblatt’s Building (formerly Border’s Books), 4720 N. Broadway. Put on by the Chicago Writers House Project, the expo will showcase more than 40 Chicago fiction and poetry presses in this pop-up bookstore.  The extravaganza also features an after-party concert on Saturday night by Joan of Arc and  the Uptown Poetry Slam at The Green Mill on Sunday.  And this week, starting tonight, the Preface Reading Series will take place at different Uptown venues.

This will be my first time behind a booth at this type of event, so I don’t exactly know what to expect.  I am looking forward to meeting other publishers and literary people, such as the Chicago Center for Literature and Photography, Curbside Splendor, Featherproof Books, MAKE Magazine, Switchback Book and many others. There are readings scheduled during the day.  For instance, I just received an invite to a joint reading by Another Chicago Magazine and Curbside Splendor for Saturday  featuring Chris Bower, Philip Jenks, Fred Sasaki, Natalie Edwards, James Tadd Adcox, Ben Tanzer, Ben Spies, Paul Luikart and Sondra Morin.

For more information on the Chicago Book Expo 2011, please check out the Chicago Writers House Project’s website.

I hope to see you this weekend.  And just so you know, I ordered more buttons from Busy Beaver Button Company.
