Saying thanks to Ernie Banks, #14 forever

01/31/2015 By Ellen Beals Leave a Comment

I went down to Fourth Presbyterian Church on Michigan Avenue and Chestnut to say good-bye to Ernie Banks. I am so glad I did. After I viewed the casket and we went to the pews, I said my thanks to him.

It is odd to me that pictures are taken at a church, of a casket, but since everyone else was doing it, I took my camera out too.

After  having our moments of quiet reflection, we went back to the entrance to see the video that was playing of Ernie’s life. The images were wonderful, but the sound track was not the best, and way too generic. Plus, I am going on the record and saying that Peggy Lee’s “Is That All There Is?” (from 1969, no less)  did not seem particularly apt.

Here are my pictures from tonight. Once again I’d like to say thanks to Ernie Banks. I hope to watch the memorial service tomorrow on WGN.
