Contributor updates and new submission leads

Peace and love to you all. I usually wish this to you at the end of  every post but today I want to extend it to you first thing. I have nothing smart or new or world-changing to say about current events so I'll just repeat myself: Peace and love to all. I heard from Kathy Donahoo last week. She lives in California now. She's had two pieces of fiction recently placed. "Joey" a short story appears in Water-Stone Review (Volume 18, 2015), which has the theme: All We Cannot … [Read more...]

As usual contributors to Solace in So Many Words have been busy writing and publishing. Susan Mahan has two poems "Voiceover" and "Cabbage Days" in U.M.Ph! Since May, two of her poems with Boston themes have been hanging in Boston City Hall --- they are "Mayday" and "Getting Lucky."  Susan's poem "On the Lower Left Quadrant" is included in the online journal Poetry Porch; the theme was bridges. Kathleen Kirk also has a poem ("Last Step")  in that issue. Fathers was the … [Read more...]

Looking back, looking forward

If you read my last post you know that Solace in So Many Words is one-year-old. I have been thinking of the highlights from the past year. But before I give that account let me tell you how great it was that last week started with congratulatory flowers, sent by neighbor and mentor Fran Podulka and her husband Phil to celebrate the gold medal award Solace in So Many Words won from the Next Generation Indie Awards sponsored by Independent Book Publishing Professionals … [Read more...]

The Book Stall was swell

The Book Stall was swell

Many thanks to The Book Stall for hosting our celebration of Poetry Month---to Roberta Rubin for inviting us to read and especially to Amy and Gordon who worked late to accommodate us.  The Book Stall has been named Publishers Weekly Bookstore of the Year and it is obvious why. The Book Stall is supportive of readers and writers alike. We had a pretty large crowd and they were a very attentive audience. We changed up our usual reading event in that we also featured … [Read more...]
