Hot links to new writing by SISMW contributors (and more)

Good day!  Hope life is treating you well. Concerned about the stock market? You may want to read Elizabeth Kerlikowske's poem "The Two Worlds"  on the The New Verse News today (August 26, 20015). There's a whole section of poetry by E. Michael Desilets at the VerseWrights site; his latest to be posted is "Sidetrack's Last Haircut." The Chicago Writers Conference is coming up--September 25-27. Did I mention Donna Hilbert has five poems ("Mother in Satin," … [Read more...]

What’s new with SISMW contributors? Rodley, Boyle, Hilbert, Mahan, Swist, Bass, Meno

Supposedly it’s spring. Last night we had a dusting of snow and today the temps are in the 20s.  Most of the mounds of snow that accumulated over the winter are gone except for the waning piles that remain in the shady spots.  I’ve seen robins and blue jays and all kinds of birds in the yard. Today’s photos in Glimpse of Solace are from a new contributor,  Lisa Comperry. Today's Guest Post is a poem ("Seed Catalogs") by Laura Rodley. BTW, did you read Laura's poem for … [Read more...]

Wally Swist’s new book and Little Eagle’s RE/VERSE

05/15/2013 By Ellen Beals Leave a Comment

Wally Swist who contributed “March Wind” to Solace in So Many Words has a new book out – it is called Velocity and is published by the Virtual Artists Collective. Here’s how the book is described: “These poems offer a distinct sense of gratitude and tribute: the spiritual connectedness experienced in constructing stone sculptures or in stacking a cord of wood; and the simplicity found in the shine of a Shaker wide-plank oak floor or the experience of loss in a favorite … [Read more...]

Indulgences

Happy 2013! Over the holidays, I indulged myself (and found some solace) so I thought I'd share. My favorite present--homemade caramels-- came to me Saturday, December 22. I have received them for some years now, and they never disappoint.   I have four left and I am guarding them. We got snow here Christmas and then a couple days later.  I was inspired to take some photographs.  Snow-covered trees are so pretty.  And, I tried to get artistic. After … [Read more...]
