Look what came in the mail today! In case you haven’t heard, on Saturday, June 23 Solace in So Many Words was awarded the Silver Medal in the anthology category by ForeWord Reviews at a ceremony and reception during the American Library Association’s annual conference in Anaheim. Weighed Words was unable to attend; but I want to make sure to say thanks to Chris Fisher who reviewed Solace in So Many Words on April 28, 2011 for ForeWord Reviews, and to Kimber Bilby (Awards and Marketing Coordinator), Victoria Sutherland (Founder and Publisher) and Julie Eakin (Editor-in-Chief) of ForeWord Reviews. If you would like to re-read the review, I’ve linked it here.
ForeWord Reviews was established in 1998 to bring increased attention to the literary achievements of independent publishers and their authors. It is the only magazine showcasing reviews and title trends exclusively from this market. Librarians and booksellers qualify for free subscriptions and renewals.
Solace in So Many Words was one of 209 Book of the Year Award winners in 54 categories. These books, representing the best independently published works from 2011, were selected by a panel of librarian and bookseller judges. Judges considered each book entry’s: editorial excellence; intent of book met by author; originality of subject matter; accuracy; author credentials; and professional packaging.
Victoria Sutherland spoke at the awards ceremony and announced the winners.“After fifteen years of recognizing great books with this award process, I still have an enormous sense of admiration for the title assortment and I’m so thankful for the help of our readership, booksellers and librarians who help us sort out the top choices based on their experiences.”
