\"Saint<\/a>Happy Saint Patrick\u2019s Day!<\/strong> I\u2019m off to start my celebrations with a luncheon today. How about you? Celebrating?<\/p>\n

Today I share with you a stanza from a poem by Irish poet Marie Cadden<\/a><\/strong>. On my last trip to Ireland I bought a book of poetry titled Gynaecologist in the Jacuzzi<\/strong> <\/em>(Salmon Press<\/strong>) from Charlie Byrne\u2019s Book Shop in Galway.<\/p>\n

The title\u00a0 intrigued me, but when I got back home and read the book, the poems intrigued me too. Marie Cadden\u2019s use of language, her wit, and the subject matters she chose\u2014all charmed me.<\/p>\n

I was sad to learn that Marie Cadden<\/strong> passed away in December.<\/a> Since her work is not in the public domain I don\u2019t have permission to print an entire poem here. (You can read samples from this book on the Salmon site<\/strong><\/a>).<\/p>\n

But I plucked this stanza from \u201cIn Praise of Denial\u201d<\/strong> because it can almost be a kind of mantra.<\/p>\n

It certainly is an antidote to the frenetic revelry and drinking that is associated with Saint Patrick\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n

Peace, love, and solace<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cJust to be,<\/strong>
\n letting go<\/strong>
\n into the warm squashy breast<\/strong>
\n of the continuously present continuous,<\/strong>
\n breathing into the moment,<\/strong>
\n floating nowhere else but here and on and on<\/strong>
\n where everything matters and nothing matters.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
