C. Boyle&#8217;s<\/strong> fourteenth novel was published in September by Viking. It is called <strong><em>San Miguel<\/em><\/strong> and on his blog, the author describes it this way: \u00a0\u201cIt is set on the island of the same name, the most northern and westerly of the California Channel Islands, and the story it tells derives from my research into the ecology and history of the region for my previous novel, <em>When the Killing\u2019s Done<\/em>. . . . This is my first book-length narrative in the conventional realist mode, sans irony or postmodernist sleight of hand, a very different approach from that of earlier books like <em>The Women<\/em>, <em>Water Music<\/em>, <em>The Road to Wellville<\/em> and <em>World\u2019s End<\/em>.\u201d Want to learn more about the book and read an excerpt?\u00a0 Check out <strong><a title=\"T. C.\u2019s blog<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In my last post I mentioned that <strong>Wally Swist\u2019s<\/strong> new book <strong><em>Huang Po and Dimensions of Love<\/em><\/strong> is out from Southern Illinois University Press.\u00a0 The title poem was just featured on <strong><em><a title=\"Poetry Daily Wally Swist,  Huang Po and the Dimensions of Love\" href=\"http:\/\/poems.com\/poem.php?date=15609\" target=\"_blank\">Poetry Daily<\/a><\/em> (Tuesday, September 25)<\/strong>. It is a stunner. \u00a0BTW, <strong>Poetry Daily<\/strong> is a great way to keep up with a steady diet of nutritional verse.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.poems.com\/poems\/support\/support.htm\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"border: 0px initial initial;\" src=\"http:\/\/poems.com\/images\/_features-sponsors\/feature_pd_support.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"PD Support\" width=\"65\" height=\"65\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Susan Mahan<\/strong> has two poems in <em>Littlest Blessings, <\/em>an\u00a0 anthology about children from <a title=\"Whispering Angel Books\" href=\"http:\/\/www.whisperingangelbooks.com\/ourbooks.html\" target=\"_blank\">Whispering Angel Books<\/a>.\u00a0Susan&#8217;s poems are &#8220;Erin&#8217;s Busy Day&#8221; and &#8220;Good vs Evil&#8221; and are written about her grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Carol Kanter<\/strong> has collaborated once again with her husband <strong>Arnie Kanter<\/strong> to create a beautiful book of poems and photography on their trips to India, Bhutan and Nepal.\u00a0 It is called <strong><em>Where the Sacred Dwells: Namaste.<\/em><\/strong> Available from <strong><a title=\"Dual Arts Press\" href=\"http:\/\/dualartspress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">DualArtsPress<\/a><\/strong>. \u00a0They have graciously allowed me to use a <a title=\"solaceinabook Carol Kanter\" href=\"https:\/\/solaceinabook.com\/site\/2012\/10\/carol-kanter-girl-with-green-balloon\/\" target=\"_blank\">poem<\/a> and <a title=\"solaceinabook Arnie Kanter\" href=\"https:\/\/solaceinabook.com\/site\/2012\/10\/arnold-kanter\/\" target=\"_blank\">photos<\/a> from the book as a <strong>guest blog<\/strong> and <strong>Glimpse of Solace<\/strong>. \u00a0Maybe these will whet your appetite to take in more. \u00a0Thanks to the <strong>Kanters<\/strong> for sharing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/dualartspress.com\/shop\/where-the-sacred-dwells-namaste\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Namaste_COVER_4-26\" src=\"http:\/\/dualartspress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/Namaste_COVER_4-261-1024x1024.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"277\" height=\"277\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Finally if you like anthologies, several new ones are out and they each have garnered great reviews. \u00a0One is <strong><em>The Beautiful Anthology<\/em><\/strong>, a collection of essays poetry and art edited by Elizabeth Collins and published by TNB Books (the publishing arm of The Nervous Breakdown). \u00a0Another is <em>A<strong> Face to Meet the Faces,\u00a0An Anthology of Contemporary Persona Poetry<\/strong><\/em>, edited by Stacey Lynn Brown and Oliver de la Paz and published by University of Akron Press. \u00a0Finally, t<span style=\"font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif;\">o celebrate the centennial of <em>Poetry<\/em> magazine, editors Don Share and Christian Wiman combed through the archives to create a new kind of anthology, <\/span><strong><em>The Open Door: 100 Poems, 100 Years of\u00a0Poetry Magazine<\/em><\/strong>. \u00a0As is explained on the <a title=\"Poetry Foundation\" href=\"http:\/\/www.poetryfoundation.org\/poetrymagazine\/open-door\" target=\"_blank\">Poetry Foundation website<\/a>: &#8220;<span style=\"font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif;\">Rather than attempting to be exhaustive or definitive, they have assembled a collection of poems that, in their juxtaposition, echo across a century of poetry.&#8221; \u00a0Maybe you want to check these out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif;\">Happy Reading and Writing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>T.
