
{"id":4599,"date":"2013-02-24T01:28:20","date_gmt":"2013-02-24T01:28:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/solaceinabook.com\/site\/?p=4599"},"modified":"2013-02-25T19:26:57","modified_gmt":"2013-02-25T19:26:57","slug":"laura-rodley-coyotes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/solaceinabook.com\/site\/2013\/02\/laura-rodley-coyotes\/","title":{"rendered":"Laura Rodley &#8220;Coyotes&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Coyotes <\/strong><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Coyotes leave deep paw prints<\/p>\n<p>in new snow, traipsing east to west<\/p>\n<p>in search of the sun, so many miles<\/p>\n<p>before the dawn when they curl and sleep<\/p>\n<p>buried by snow and leaves.<\/p>\n<p>There are buck tracks too, a line alongside<\/p>\n<p>the coyote, each walking the same path<\/p>\n<p>as me, but not hunting each other<\/p>\n<p>just on the move while I search<\/p>\n<p>for sleep and wish for the lightness<\/p>\n<p>of breathing freezing cold air<\/p>\n<p>minus seven below, wearing<\/p>\n<p>my thick beige coat.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a9 Laura Rodley, 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Laura has two chapbooks from <strong><a title=\"Finishing Line Press -- Laura Rodley\" href=\"http:\/\/www.finishinglinepress.com\/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=laura+rodley&amp;submit-button=Search&amp;search_in_description=1\" target=\"_blank\">Finishing Line Press<\/a><\/strong>: <strong><em>Your Front Wheel is Coming Loose<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>Rappelling Blue Light.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The exciting news recently is that Laura is the recipient of a <strong>Pushcart Prize<\/strong> for her poem \u201cResurrection\u201d which appeared on The <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/archive.feedblitz.com\/8753\/~4009092\">New Verse News<\/a>. <\/em><\/strong>It will appear in <em>The Pushcart Prlze XXXVII: Best of the Small Presses.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em> <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Her poetry has appeared in the anthologies <em>Crossing Paths, 911 Peace Project, Anthology of New England Writers<\/em>, and <em>The Blueline Anthology<\/em> and in the journals such as\u00a0<em>Connecticut River Review<\/em>, <em>Earth\u2019s Daughters,<\/em> <em>Massachusetts Review, Sanctuary, The National Audubon Magazine, Boston Literary Magazine<\/em>, <em>Quick Fiction,<\/em> <em>Sahara,<\/em> <em>Sanctuary,<\/em> <em>The Raintown Review<\/em>, <em>Tiger\u2019s Eye<\/em> and <em>Way Station Magazine<\/em>. Her work has been read on WHMP, KVMR, 89.5 FM radio in Nevada City, California, and NPR-affiliated station WAMC in Albany.
