Here in Chicago I know it\u2019s summer because the weeds are taking off and the skeeters are back.\u00a0 And it\u2019s the season of the Cancer birthdays. Meanwhile this must be a bumper crop year for the cottonwood trees because the infernal cotton is still blowing around.<\/p>\n<p>My friend <strong>Rochelle Distelheim<\/strong> (whose <em>story <\/em><strong><em><a title=\"The Kiss-Me-Quick by Rochelle Distelheim\" href=\"https:\/\/solaceinabook.com\/site\/2014\/01\/rochelle-distelheim-the-kiss-me-quick\/\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;The Kiss-Me-Quick&#8221; <\/a><\/em><\/strong>appeared here in January) has a story &#8220;Talking About the Tango&#8221;\u00a0 posted June 25, 2014\u00a0 in <a title=\"Talking About the Tango by Rochelle Distelheim\" href=\"http:\/\/www.readthebestwriting.com\/talking-about-the-tango-rochelle-distelheim\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em><strong>Ascent<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, which is out of Concordia College in Moorhead, MN.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Rhino Poetry\" href=\"http:\/\/rhinopoetry.org\/submit\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em><strong>Rhino <\/strong><\/em><\/a>is open for\u00a0 submissions until August 31.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kevin Nance<\/strong> has the cover story &#8220;How I Found My Agent: Ten Authors on Meeting the One&#8221;\u00a0 in the latest (July\/August) issue <a title=\"Poets and Writers\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pw.org\/content\/julyaugust_2014\" target=\"_blank\"><em><strong>Poets &amp; Writers.<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Recently I found out about\u00a0 a digital magazine that started this year\u2013it\u2019s called <a title=\"Control Literary Magazine\" href=\"http:\/\/controllitmag.com\/submission-guidelines\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em><strong>Control<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, the tagline for which is &#8220;Bringing you a new and diverse range of art and literature.&#8221; Submissions are sought.<\/p>\n<p>Last night I was catching up on Twitter and realized there had been a big to-do of which I was totally unaware.\u00a0 It\u2019s a long story. <strong>Miles Klee <\/strong>writes about it in June 27 edition of <em><strong>The Daily Dot<\/strong><\/em>. You can guess what it&#8217;s about from the post&#8217;s title\u00a0 <a title=\"The Daily Dot\/ Miles Klee &quot;The great New York literary subtweet war of 2014&quot;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dailydot.com\/lifestyle\/new-york-lit-emily-gould-ed-champion-subtweet-war\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>&#8220;The great New York literary subtweet war of 2014.&#8221;<\/strong> <\/a>The tale is a familiar one in this day when the Internet gives us all a forum, which we can choose to use positively or we can let our egos and baser instincts pull us down a rabbit hole of bad behavior. All around this was a sad situation.\u00a0 I agree with <strong>Miles Klee&#8217;s<\/strong> final sentence: &#8220;Let&#8217;s all try to do better, shall we?&#8221; <strong>Yes, let&#8217;s.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This week\u2019s<strong> <a title=\"Glimpse of Solace: Daniel Cleary\" href=\"https:\/\/solaceinabook.com\/site\/2014\/06\/glimpse-of-solace-daniel-cleary\/\" target=\"_blank\">Glimpse<\/a> <\/strong>comes from <strong>Daniel Cleary<\/strong>. In the past I\u2019ve shared his poems <a title=\"Fireside by Daniel Cleary\" href=\"https:\/\/solaceinabook.com\/site\/2013\/12\/daniel-cleary-fireside\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>&#8220;Fireside&#8221;<\/strong><\/a> and <a title=\"More Snow by Daniel Cleary\" href=\"https:\/\/solaceinabook.com\/site\/2014\/02\/guest-blog-daniel-cleary-more-snow\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>&#8220;More Snow&#8221;<\/strong><\/a> and painting was mentioned only in his biography. Most mornings when I open my FB page, I am greeted by a cheery \u201cGood morning\u201d and one of Dan\u2019s paintings.
