\"\"<\/a>Salutations! Hope August is going well for you. We\u2019re already going into the second week of the month so if you have some summer activity on your to-do list, you better get to it.\u00a0 Before you know it, we\u2019ll be raking leaves and setting our clocks back.<\/p>\n

As per usual, I don\u2019t really have a list of things I\u2019d like get accomplished \u2013 I am a meanderer that way. Last weekend I was happy to go, spur of the moment, to a poetry reading at Woman Made Gallery<\/strong><\/a> and then to an art fair where I got to meet Kevin Nance <\/strong>(Glimpse of Solace<\/a>).<\/p>\n

I had nothing really to post so I searched public domain poems. It was by happenstance that I came across the poems I post <\/a>today; they are by Alfred Lichtenstein<\/strong>, a German expressionist poet who died at the age of 25 in World War I.<\/p>\n

What impressed me was how contemporary and modern these poems sound. I wanted to post a summer poem to go with the butterfly photo I took and \u201cSummer Freshness\u201d<\/strong> sounded fresh to me. Then I found \u201cPrayer Before Battle\u201d <\/strong> and I wanted to share that with you too. This month marks the 100th<\/sup> year anniversary of World War I<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

How unfortunate that the world is still at war. Sigh.<\/p>\n
