Yesterday, June 2, a full moon shone.<\/p>\n

According to the The<\/strong> <\/em>Old Farmer\u2019s Almanac<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, June’s full moon is the Full Strawberry Moon<\/strong> and got this name because the Algonquin tribes<\/strong> knew it as a signal to gather ripening fruit.<\/p>\n

It was often known as the Full Rose Moon<\/strong> in Europe (where strawberries aren’t native).<\/p>\n

Lyricist Edward Madden<\/strong> also had ideas about the June moon:<\/p>\n

\u201cPlace park, scene dark, silvery moon is shining through the trees;
\nCast two, me, you, sound of kisses floating on the breeze.
\nAct one, begun. Dialogue, \u201cWhere would you like to spoon?\u201d
\nMy cue, with you, underneath the silvery moon.
\nBy the light of the silvery moon,
\nI want to spoon, to my honey I\u2019ll croon love\u2019s tune,
\nHoneymoon keep a-shining in June,
\nYour silvery beams will bring love dreams, we\u2019ll be cuddling soon,
\nBy the silvery moon.\u201d<\/p>\n
