\"Ed's<\/a>Last week I visited the Ed Paschke Art Center<\/strong> <\/a>in Chicago\u2019s Jefferson Park<\/strong> neighborhood (5415 W. Higgins). The storefront museum is open seven days a week from ten a.m. to seven p.m. It\u2019s free.<\/p>\n

For those who do not know about Chicago artist Ed Paschke<\/strong>, he was a contemporary (1939-2004) artist who lived in Jefferson Park and taught at Northwestern University. Here\u2019s the Wikipedia link<\/a>. You may want to take time and see all his art on digital display<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The art center has a permanent collection of works by Ed Paschke<\/strong> and recreates his Howard Street studio space. There is also gallery space devoted to other artists. Currently on display are paintings by the Zhou Brothers and, until August 3, rock photography by Paul Natkin<\/strong> a Chicago photographer who is a legend in his own right. His photos exhibited here include Pete Townsend<\/strong>, Prince<\/strong>, Miles Davis<\/strong>, Johnny Cash<\/strong>, and several others.<\/p>\n

Remember when the “Cow Parade”<\/strong> hit Chicago? Can you believe that was 1999?\u00a0 Remember the sensation the cows caused?<\/p>\n

Ed Paschke’s cow “Vaca Victoria”<\/strong> drew controversy and was taken\u00a0 off display because he\u00a0 covered his red-and-white cow with gang logos and insignias from a host of Chicago gangs, including the El Rukns, Simon City Royals, Vice Lords, Four Corner Hustlers, Latin Kings and Maniac Latin Disciples. You can see it here<\/a> at the art center.<\/p>\n

A quick Google search shows that the cows continue to parade<\/a>.<\/p>\n
