I know it’s been more than a week since I last checked in.\u00a0 Happy November!<\/strong> November is a month when we are not supposed to shave but we are supposed to write a ton. I am sure you have heard of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo)<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Here’s a pithy article with pointers on how to be most productive.\u00a0 It’s by M.G. Leonards<\/strong> and titled: “How to write a book –top tips for National Novel Writing Month”<\/strong><\/a> and it appears in the November 3 issue of The Guardian<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Then on BuzzFeed<\/strong><\/em> Lincoln Michel<\/strong> has an article to help you place your writing. It’s called “The Ultimate Guide to Getting Published in Literary Magazines”<\/strong><\/a> and was posted November 6 in the Book Section.<\/p>\n

I have mentioned before that you can learn about calls for submissions through Creative Writers Opportunities<\/strong> (CRWROPPS)<\/strong><\/a>, which is moderated by poet Allison Joseph<\/strong>. If you use this site, remember Allison keeps this group page as a service to us out of the goodness of her heart so be kind and appreciative.<\/p>\n

Another source is NewPages<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, which I consult often. This site has tons of great information on journals as well as\u00a0 reviews too. It is an indispensable\u00a0 resource.<\/p>\n

\"entropy_pink_sm\"<\/a>Recently I just found another good source of submission info: Entropy Magazine<\/strong><\/em><\/a>. Just look under “Resources.”<\/p>\n

On Galley Cat<\/em><\/strong> the other day writer Dianna Dilworth<\/strong> mentioned a new poetry contest in her article “Amazon Kicks Off Poetry Competition.”<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0 Get your manuscript in. I tracked down the guidelines, which are linked here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Silver Birch Press<\/strong><\/em> blogspot<\/strong> <\/a>is now doing a great series called “When I Hear That Song.” Several of the poems have been very compelling. Music is the sound track to our lives.\u00a0 The next call for submissions is “Me, During the Holidays.”<\/strong><\/a> Send in your poetry and short fiction.<\/p>\n

One more thing, Poetry Ireland<\/em><\/strong> is planning for the next Poetry Day Ireland<\/strong>, which will take place April 28, 2016, by assembling a database of poets; here’s the info<\/strong><\/a> if you want to add yourself.\"poetry_ireland_logo\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Because I do not like to follow rules or share on the Internet anymore than I have to, I have been doing my own version of NaNoWriMo<\/strong>. So I am going to get back to it. (As to it being No-Shave November<\/strong> or Movember<\/strong>, here’s\u00a0 the info<\/strong><\/a> on that).<\/p>\n
