The end of the year always brings out the &#8220;best of&#8221; lists. <em><strong>Solace in So Many Words<\/strong> <\/em>contributors made a few of these<\/p>\n<p><strong>T. C. Boyle\u2019s<\/strong> novel <strong><em>The Harder They Come<\/em><\/strong> was named the best novel (700 pages or shorter) by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/year-reading-best-and-worst-books-2015-400398\" target=\"_blank\"><em><strong>Newsweek<\/strong><\/em><\/a>.\u00a0 It was also named one of the best books of the year by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/entertainment\/books\/628299\/Best-books-2015\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><em>The Express<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/books\/article\/Best-of-2015-100-recommended-books-6698121.php\" target=\"_blank\"><em><strong>San Francisco Chronicle<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, and other publications.\u00a0 Also this year, <strong>T. C. Boyle<\/strong>\u00a0 served as guest editor for <em>The Best American Short Stories.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/solaceinabook.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/MarvelandaWonder1-127x200.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-8793\" src=\"https:\/\/solaceinabook.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/MarvelandaWonder1-127x200.jpg\" alt=\"MarvelandaWonder1-127x200\" width=\"127\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>Joe Meno\u2019s<\/strong> novel <strong><em>A Marvel and a Wonder<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong> was listed on the\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forewordreviews.com\/blog\/posts\/reviewers-choice-our-2015-favorites\/\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Reviewer&#8217;s Choice: Our 2015 Favorites&#8221; <\/a>by <em><strong>Foreword Review<\/strong><\/em> and named one of the best fictions books of the year by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chicagoreader.com\/chicago\/best-books-2015-fiction-essays-comics-poetry-memoir\/Content?oid=20558431\" target=\"_blank\"><em><strong>Chicago Reader<\/strong><\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>The New York Times Magazine <\/em>&#8220;The Lives They Lived&#8221;\u00a0 feature includes\u00a0 a nice remembrance of <em><strong>Solace in So Many Words<\/strong><\/em> contributor <strong>Philip Levine<\/strong>, who passed away this year. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2015\/12\/16\/magazine\/the-lives-they-lived.html#id-5676f02ccb00db0001000032\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Communicating with my father through verse&#8221;<\/a> is written by <strong>Natasha Trethewey.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Here&#8217;s a quote of Phil Levine&#8217;s that was featured: <strong>&#8220;I think poetry will save nothing from oblivion, but I keep writing about the ordinary because for me it&#8217;s the home of the extraordinary, the only home.&#8221;<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/solaceinabook.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/193371_orig.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-8794\" src=\"https:\/\/solaceinabook.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/193371_orig-194x300.png\" alt=\"193371_orig\" width=\"174\" height=\"269\" srcset=\"https:\/\/solaceinabook.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/193371_orig-194x300.png 194w, https:\/\/solaceinabook.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/193371_orig.png 517w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 174px) 100vw, 174px\" \/><\/a>Patty Somlo<\/strong> has a new story called &#8220;Off Season&#8221; in the winter issue of <em><strong>Mused, Bella Online Literary Review<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 Here is <a href=\"http:\/\/bellaonline.com\/review\/issues\/winter2015\/f006.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>the link<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Writers who have contributed to this site have some new publications in 2015. <strong>Daniel Cleary<\/strong> has a new book of poems. It\u2019s called <em><strong>A Few Stray Leaves<\/strong><\/em> and it&#8217;s published by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lagoonseditions.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Paul Ryan&#8217;s<strong> Lagoons Editions<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 The book is so new that there has not been an official book release for it yet.\u00a0 Daniel describes the book this way, &#8220;Overall, it&#8217;s a looking back, somewhat elegiac in tone, with separate segments relating to Chicago, London, and Ireland.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In 2015,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lesleanewman.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong> Lesl\u00e9a Newman<\/strong><\/a> had two new books for children.
