\"51b2-95u-oL._SX322_BO1,204,203,200_\"<\/a>Tom Fiffer<\/strong> who has contributed a number of essays to this site has a new book, Why It Can’t Work: Detaching from Dysfunctional Relationships to Make Room for True Love.<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

He is Senior Editor, Ethics,\u00a0 for\u00a0The Good Men Project,<\/em><\/strong><\/a> which you should check out–it’s “The conversation no one is having.” If reading the thought-provoking stuff there inspires you to write about an issue, recently the site had a call for submissions<\/strong>; here is that info<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The dawning of a new year reminds me of Tom’s article from last year “The top ten things to stop caring about in 2015.”<\/a><\/p>\n

\"ABCsOfWomensWork\"<\/a>Kathleen Kirk<\/strong> has a new poetry chapbook\u00a0 called “The ABCs of Women’s Work”<\/strong> and it is by Red Bird Chapbooks<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 In her blog<\/a>, Kathleen says the chapbook is 6 x 6 and looks exactly like a tiny sampler. Want to read a poem called “How to Jump Through Hoops”<\/strong> — then check out the publisher’s description<\/a> of the book (and consider ordering one before the limited edition is sold out).<\/p>\n

On her blog Chicago poet Donna Vorreyer<\/strong> reviews Kathleen’s “The ABCs of Women’s Work”-<\/strong>– read it here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Don’t forget to check out Escape Into Life<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>where Kathleen is the poetry editor–there’s always something cool there.<\/p>\n

I first became acquainted with the work of Shawn Misener<\/strong> from his site Clutching at Straws<\/strong><\/em><\/a>. Since then I have followed his FB posts, the latest of which I want to pass along. Shawn writes, “Clutching at Straws<\/strong><\/em> is now accepting submissions of weird, hilarious, absurd, surreal, and bizarre poetry flash. We are back in the game. After a two-year plus sabbatical I’ve decided to boot it back up. Join the impressive roster of over 150 writers who already have their work on Clutching<\/em><\/strong>. I’m looking for exclusively weirdo work… please read some of the poems already up for an idea of what we want (especially the work of Chris Toll<\/a>, William Merricle<\/a>, and Nicholas Hranilovich<\/a>).\u00a0 There\u2019s a new submission address, which is clutching at straws at gmail.com.”<\/p>\n

He adds, “Spread the word of discarded kiwi, Your F-Forts will be rewarded with ripe bananas and selfies with the famous proboscis monkey.”<\/p>\n

Laura Rodley<\/strong> has done it again, that is, she has written a stunning poem (“Taking Off”<\/a><\/strong>) and it’s on The New Verse News<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 Previously she had a poem (“Resurrection”<\/strong><\/a>) on this site and it was awarded a Pushcart Prize and included in the annual anthology. History could repeat itself.<\/p>\n

Silver Birch<\/strong><\/em><\/a> has a new call for submissions of writing, art, photography for a new anthology on Nancy Drew<\/strong>.\"nancy-drew-antho-cover1\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Also Prime Number Magazine<\/strong><\/em><\/a> issue 83 is live.\u00a0 Prime Number<\/strong><\/em> has made some changes, such as new editors and a new format with guest editors. General submissions<\/strong> are open and so is the 2016 Prime Number Magazine Contest<\/strong> for poetry and short fiction–check it out here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n
