Gateway<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gateway to heaven, Cecropia flits
\nto my doorway, flaps her wings,
\nMorse code from God, life
\neverlasting, she lays her full body
\nagainst my brass doorknob.
\nHer journey is done, her wings
\nare tattered, she will lay her eggs and disappear.
\nLike all faith, she is ephemeral
\nand falls down from the skies.
\nHow did she find me?
\nHow did she know I was seeking solace?
\nAnd she brought a disciple,
\nanother Cecropia, much smaller,
\nthat lay beside the lit porch lamp
\nto her right.<\/p>\n

Laura Rodley\u2019s<\/strong> work has been nominated numerous times for the Pushcart Prize and Best of Net anthologies. In 2013 Laura was awarded the Pushcart Prize<\/strong> (for her poem Resurrection<\/strong>, which originally appeared in The New Verse News<\/a><\/em><\/strong>).<\/p>\n

She has two chapbooks from Finishing Line Press<\/strong>: Your Left Front Wheel is Coming Loose,<\/strong><\/em> which Finishing Line nominated\u00a0 for a PEN L.L.Winship Award, and Rappelling Blue Light,<\/strong> <\/em>which was a Massachusetts Book Award nominee.<\/p>\n

Former co-curator of the Collected Poets Series<\/strong>, Laura teaches As You Write It<\/strong> classes; she has edited and published As You Write It, A Franklin County Anthology<\/strong><\/em> volumes I-V, which was nominated for a Massachusetts Book Award. She has also been featured reader at Greenfield Word Festival<\/strong> since its conception.<\/p>\n
