Solace in So Many Words<\/strong><\/em> contributor Elizabeth Kerlikowske and other poets\u00a0<\/strong> has teamed up with artists to create The Alchemy Initiative: A Suite of Monlogues.<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

SISMW<\/strong><\/em> contributor Patty Somlo<\/strong> has a nonfiction piece (“Home at the Beach”<\/strong><\/a>) in Peacock Journal<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

Have you heard of The Poeming Pigeon<\/strong><\/em>? I got an email that the next issue will focus on love and submissions will be taken May and June \u2013 got any poems? Here is the link<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Did you know that Submittable<\/strong> will send you a newsletter<\/strong>\u00a0 (Submishmash) <\/a>that has some hot links? For instance, NonBinary Review<\/a><\/strong><\/em> has a call for submissions on urban legends<\/strong> and a publication called Sheila-Na-Gig<\/strong><\/em><\/a> wants well-crafted free verse. I am so grateful to Submittable<\/strong> \u2013 it has made things so much easier for writers.<\/p>\n

Also congrats to C. J. Laity<\/strong> for his latest JOMP (Journal of Modern Poetry)<\/strong><\/em>, which features many local poets.<\/p>\n

One poet who has work in it is Jennifer Dotson<\/strong>, who runs Highland Park Poetry<\/a><\/strong>; this is a great organization, offering many opportunities to share poetry.<\/p>\n

Oh, one more thing. I learned from Chicago writer\u00a0 Eileen Favorite<\/strong> that there are still spaces available in the Op-Ed Project <\/a>Workshop on May 7<\/strong>. She explains, \u201cThis workshop will teach you how to write an Op-Ed: a timely, evidence-based argument of public value, of approximately 600-800 words. . . After the workshop, you will have a mentor who will provide feedback on your writing and help you to find appropriate publications where you can submit the op-ed.”<\/p>\n
