\"IMG_2306_2\"<\/a>Hey there.<\/strong> It\u2019s already the fifteenth of February and I haven\u2019t checked in with you yet this month. That\u2019s because I have nothing new to report about me. But here\u2019s what\u2019s happening with some people we know.<\/p>\n

\"file\"<\/a>Big congrats to Patty Somlo<\/strong> for Hairway to Heaven<\/em><\/strong>, her latest book. It is available from Cherry Castle Publishing<\/strong><\/a>. Here’s how it’s described:\u00a0 “The interconnected stories featured in this book specifically, boldly, and tenderly are rooted in her experiences living in many African American neighborhoods that are beginning to gentrify. Her characters are unforgettable and her narratives ring magnetically true.”<\/p>\n

Barry Silesky<\/strong> has three poems\u2014\u201cThe Idea,\u201d \u201cStorm\u201d, and \u201cThe One I Love\u201d– at Boomer Lit Mag.<\/strong><\/em> They are characterized as \u201cmystery with a familiar sounding voice.\u201d Here are a couple lines that got to me: \u201cEven now the time we\u2019ve hoped for is coming. Is it winter weather where you live? Then you\u2019ll relate to Laura Rodley\u2019s<\/strong> poem \u201cDay Runners,\u201d<\/strong> which appeared February 11th at the New Verse News<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 Laura also took the photo that accompanies her poem.\u00a0 Read the poem here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

I haven\u2019t been able to place any writing this past month. I got a very nice rejection<\/strong> from an agent regarding my novel. I thanked her for it because it was encouraging. I try to write a thank-you note whenever I get a rejection but sometimes I flake out. What about you \u2013 do you write a thank-you for a rejection?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I did receive an acceptance for one of my photos. I\u2019ll give you the link when the post is up. Last weekend was a big snow here. Usually I use the white snow as a backdrop for winter photos. These days though I\u2019m the lucky caretaker of a dog so the smooth white canvas doesn\u2019t remain undisturbed for long. I managed to get in some pics and I share them with you.<\/p>\n
