March is here.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve been lazy and indulgent, per usual, but here\u2019s some news.<\/p>\n<p>Last weekend I went to <strong>Sulzer Library<\/strong> in my old neck of the woods and finally met <a href=\"http:\/\/www.danielclearyfinearts.com\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\"><em><strong>Daniel Cleary<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>in person. It was a pleasure to hear him read his poems, and he finished with a song!\u00a0 I&#8217;ve featured some of his poetry (such as <a href=\"https:\/\/solaceinabook.com\/site\/2013\/12\/daniel-cleary-fireside\/\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;<strong>Fireside&#8221;<\/strong><\/a><strong> and <a href=\"https:\/\/solaceinabook.com\/site\/2014\/02\/guest-blog-daniel-cleary-more-snow\/\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;More Snow&#8221;<\/a><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/solaceinabook.com\/site\/2014\/02\/guest-blog-daniel-cleary-more-snow\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>)<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/solaceinabook.com\/site\/2014\/06\/glimpse-of-solace-daniel-cleary\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>paintings<\/strong><\/a> on this site. So glad to shake his hand!<\/p>\n<p>I got two of his books\u2014<strong><em>The Green Ribbon<\/em><\/strong> (<strong>Enright House<\/strong>) and <em><strong>A Few Stray Leaves<\/strong><\/em> by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lagoonseditions.com\/a-few-stray-leaves.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Lagoons Editions<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>BTW,<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lagoonseditions.com\/lagoons-sessions.html\" target=\"_blank\">Lagoons Sessions<\/a> <\/strong>take place regularly at <strong>The Uptown Arts Center.<\/strong> The next one is <strong>Friday, March 16, <\/strong>and\u00a0 features <strong>Beatriz Badikian-Gartler<\/strong>, <strong>Frank Rogaczewski<\/strong>, <strong>Ixtaccihuatl Menchaca<\/strong>, and <strong>Elizabeth Marino<\/strong>. The <a href=\"https:\/\/uptownartscenter.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Uptown Arts Center<\/strong><\/a> is at 941 W. Lawrence.<a href=\"https:\/\/solaceinabook.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/193371_orig.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-9971\" src=\"https:\/\/solaceinabook.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/193371_orig-194x300.png\" alt=\"193371_orig\" width=\"300\" height=\"464\" srcset=\"https:\/\/solaceinabook.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/193371_orig-194x300.png 194w, https:\/\/solaceinabook.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/193371_orig.png 517w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dan Cleary\u2019s<\/strong> reading was hosted by the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outriderpress.net\/tallgrass-writers-guild.html\" target=\"_blank\">Tallgrass Writers Guild<\/a>,<\/strong> which means <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pw.org\/content\/whitney_scott_1\" target=\"_blank\">Whitney Scott<\/a>,<\/strong> who works hard for poetry. She heads up <strong>Tallgrass Writers Guild<\/strong> and also <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outriderpress.net\/welcome-1.html\" target=\"_blank\">Outrider Press<\/a><\/strong>, which is known for its black-and-white anthologies.<\/p>\n<p>The latest <strong>call for submissions<\/strong> is on the theme of\u00a0 <strong>STARS<\/strong> and the deadline is coming up soon. Check out the details <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outriderpress.net\/anthology-guidelines.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The next <strong>Tallgrass Writers Guild<\/strong> reading is Sunday, March 25, at 2 pm, and features <strong>Susan Zamarow<\/strong>. There&#8217;s an open mic too.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/solaceinabook.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/This-Far-web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-9972 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/solaceinabook.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/This-Far-web-198x300.jpg\" alt=\"This Far web\" width=\"198\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>Congrats to friend <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lynnsloan.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Lynn Sloan<\/strong><\/a> who has a new book of short stories launching today; it\u2019s called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fomitepress.com\/This_Far.html\" target=\"_blank\"><em><strong>This Far Isn\u2019t Far Enough<\/strong><\/em><\/a> and comes from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fomitepress.com\/Home.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Fomite Press<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A local <strong>poet and musician <a href=\"http:\/\/www.larryodean.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Larry O.
