Celebrating Fat Tuesday, Observing Lent

Hey there! Let the good times roll! It’s Fat Tuesday. I’m making gumbo and I bought a king cake so we’ll have a little Mardi Gras celebration tonight. Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday. I won’t get ashes. I’m not a practicing Catholic. I do like some of the rituals and practices though. So I plan on observing Lent by giving up Facebook and by limiting my use of plastic (I realize I cannot give it up totally). Death of a legend, contributor news, new call for submissions

Hey there sports fans.  If you are into baseball, I‘ve got to think you’re mourning the death of the great Ernie Banks, #14. His face as a rookie ballplayer, which graced the front pages of the papers in Chicago, is something to behold: there’s a purity there not seen often. It shines through. Beautiful.   This sign is one of many on the white clapboard exterior of the very delicious Elizabeth's Restaurant in the Bywater neighborhood of New Orleans (601 Gallier Street, New Orleans, LA 70117, 504-944-9272).
