I’m not much in the mood for jokes this April Fool’s Day. How about you?
Today is also the beginning of National Poetry Month. I hope to share some poems later this month. In the meantime you can check out the Academy of American Poets to see ways you can celebrate poetry.
It was back in early February when Massachusetts poet and journalist Laura Rodley sent me some photos. The one that spoke to me then is the one featured below (Tiny Little Houses in Gypsum, Colorado, as seen from the California Zephyr © Laura Rodley, 2019).
Today it seems even more so to capture how I’m feeling these days, like there is something big as a mountain looming. And there is, but we’ll get through it.
Yesterday a book came out that I want you all to know about. It’s Valentine by my friend Elizabeth Wetmore. The reviews are all raves. That’s because it is a terrific book, and Beth spent years of hard work writing it. Give it some love!
I don’t imagine it is ideal to launch a book during a pandemic so I’m glad the book is getting attention. Jenna Bush Hager picked it for her April selection on the Today show.
And, Ron Charles had a great review today in Washington Post (Elizabeth Wetmore’s ‘Valentine’ is a thrilling debut that deserves your attention”).
Keep up your spirits. Be kind to one another. Read on. Write on.
And, thanks to Laura for sharing her photo.
Peace, love, and solace
