Hello. Happy new month! March is here. I’ve been lazy and indulgent, per usual, but here’s some news. Last weekend I went to Sulzer Library in my old neck of the woods and finally met Daniel Cleary in person. It was a pleasure to hear him read his poems, and he finished with a song! Hey there. Hope your Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Festivus was wonderful. The end of the year always brings out the "best of" lists. Solace in So Many Words contributors made a few of these T. C. Boyle’s novel The Harder They Come was named the best novel (700 pages or shorter) by Newsweek. April showers today; I love the rumble. Here are some updates about the artists whose work has been featured on Glimpse of Solace Daniel Cleary is going to have a show "In Exhibition: Daniel Cleary, new and selected paintings" starting tomorrow April 10 at the Uptown Arts Center, 941 W. Glimpse of Solace: Daniel Cleary
Daniel Cleary was born in Tipperary Town, Ireland and grew up there, and lived for a few years in London, England, before moving to Chicago in 1968. His first passion was painting, but he always loved poetry; “though I never considered myself a writer.” He has two books: The Green Ribbon (Wyndham Hall Press) and Elegy for James Gerard and Other Poems for the Larger Voice (Fractal Edge Press). Happy June 29th –hope your summer is going well so far. Here in Chicago I know it’s summer because the weeds are taking off and the skeeters are back. And it’s the season of the Cancer birthdays.
