After The Blizzard — Lesléa Newman (photos by Kathy Buckland)

03/09/2018 By Ellen Beals Leave a Comment

Greetings! A couple of weeks ago I received an email from esteemed writer Lesléa Newman with some wonderful poems. It made my day. She has a new collection of poetry--it's called Lovely, and this poem is from that new book out from Headmistress Press. When I read this poem about a cat, I knew to contact Kathy Buckland for photos, and sure enough, she had ones that were perfect. Today it is spring-like in Chicago but I know my friends in the Northeast are recovering from … [Read more...]

Thank goodness for Kathy Buckland! On a day when many are concerned about the Brexit vote, it is great to have the diversion of the beautiful natural world. Kathy recently traveled to the Oregon coast. Here are some of her photographs from that trip. Kathy is a frequent contributor to this site (thank-you, Kathy); you can see more of her work here and here  and here and here and here.  Originally from Long Island, NY, Kathy Buckland spends as much time as she can being … [Read more...]

Glimpse of Solace: Kathy Buckland

Next week I might need to post something more springlike but for today I just want to focus on these fantastic shots. As you can see, Kathy has been visiting the Lake Michigan shoreline. This winter she braved the low temps and snow to visit Lake Forest Beach as well as Tower Beach. I think the rocks in the second picture look almost like sea lions. Kathleen Buckland is a Glenview … [Read more...]
