Chicago Book Expo 2011 — Up event in Uptown
I didn't know what to expect when I signed up to be a vendor at the Chicago Book Expo 2011 because this was my first time at such an event where I'd sit behind a table and sell Solace in So Many Words. Grace!
This past Sunday we felt the grace of Grace Place where Solace in So Many Words was the topic at the adult formation hour. Grace Place is the name for the first floor meeting room of Grace Episcopal Church, which is a storefront church with a second floor sanctuary. Chicago writers might be familiar with Grace Place because it is a venue during Printers Row Lit Fest. Pamela Miller and I both recalled reading there on previous occasions. 7/21 Event a Winner!
Our most recent event was a record-breaker in terms of attendance and sales! The BookMarket in The Glen Town Center has a gem of a performance space and it was packed. Rick, the assistant manager and gracious host who made us feel welcome, put out 50 chairs and still there were people in the couches and chairs at the outer edges of the room.
