I gotta lotta reasons for not writing the blog recently. Summer is ending. A household project is starting. The conventions are on. But you know the real reason is that sometimes I am just lazy. But contributors to Solace in So Many Words haven't been lazy. T. C. Boyle has a story "Birnam Wood" in The New Yorker (September 2, 2012 issue). Joe Meno is interviewed in TriQuarterly (June 17, 2012). Philip Levine has a poem "How to Get There" in February issue of Poetry, and … [Read more...]
Summer reading (or what contributors are up to)
Looking for something to read this summer? Everyone--Publishers Weekly, Kirkus Reviews, Booklist-- is excited about Solace in So Many Words contributor Joe Meno's new novel Office Girl. Patty Somlo ("Starting to Breathe") has a new story "Where He Took His First Breath" in The Write Room. Donna Hilbert ("Flowers" and "In Quintana Roo") has a new guest blog on NEXTV's ALL LIT Up blogpost by James Goertel. I also wrote a guest essay ("In Service of Poetry") for ALL LIT UP. Many thanks to … [Read more...]

And, I wanted to tell you the latest about Solace in So Many Words even though I haven't been busy, exactly. First to tell you about my busy contributors. Arthur Powers ("Jardim Zological") emailed me back in November to say his short story "Thom" was nominated for a Pushcart Prize by … [Read more...]
