Carol Shields

09/20/2011 By Ellen Beals Leave a Comment

"They know after all this time about love--that it's dim and unreliable and little more than a reflection on the wall. It is also capricious,  idiotic, sentimental, imperfect and inconstant, and most often seems to be the exclusive preserve of others. Sitting around in a room that was slowly growing dark, they found themselves wishing they could measure its pure anchoring force or account for its random visitations. Of course they could not--which was why, after a time, they … [Read more...]

Dengler's name  made me remember that my last emails to her had bounced back.  So on the Thursday … [Read more...]

Mindful Metropolis likes us!

We just got a great new review from Mindful Metropolis. It appears on page 49 of the September issue and is written by Maureen Ewing.  I copy it in full below.  Thanks to Maureen Ewing and Mindful Metropolis Editorial and Production Director James Faber. "In any bookstore one can find inspirational collections of poetry and stories meant to buoy spirits or help people through transformational times. The new collection, Solace in So Many Words, edited by local author Ellen … [Read more...]
