Chicago Book Expo 2011 — Up event in Uptown

I didn't know what to expect when I signed up to be a vendor at the Chicago Book Expo 2011 because this was my first time at such an event where I'd sit behind a table and sell Solace in So Many Words. Chicago Book Expo 2011

Weighed Words just signed on to participate in the Chicago Book Expo 2011 this weekend, November 19 and 20, at the Uptown Goldblatt's Building (formerly Border's Books), 4720 N. Broadway. Put on by the Chicago Writers House Project, the expo will showcase more than 40 Chicago fiction and poetry presses in this pop-up bookstore.  The extravaganza also features an after-party concert on Saturday night by Joan of Arc and  the Uptown Poetry Slam at The Green Mill on Sunday.  And … [Read more...]

Susan O’Donnell Mahan

I first met Susan O'Donnell Mahan in Minneapolis when we both attended the launch of Kiss Me Goodnight.  The poem she wrote for that book is titled "World View" and is about her mother Florence 'Sis' O'Donnell who died when Susan was 14.  Susan and a couple other poets who appeared in Kiss Me Goodnight (Patti Wojcik Wahlberg and Tekla Dennison Miller) responded to my call for submissions.
