It’s already the 12th so I guess I have to admit the holidays are over. The Epiphany has come and gone, I’ve eaten the last of the Christmas caramels, and this past weekend was the Wade get-together (there were 71 of us, spanning in age from 1 to 78 years). I was sorry to read at various sources that Jeff Poniewaz recently passed away. He was currently serving as Milwaukee’s Poet Laureate. Known as an eco-poet Jeff taught Literature of Ecological Vision via the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee since 1989. His book Dolphin Leaping in the Milky Way was awarded the Discovery Award from PEN in 1987. This morning I woke up, walked in my hallway, and saw a bright light. At first I did not know what it was. Then I remembered: This is sunlight. Two weeks from today you can hear a great presentation by Solace in So Many Words contributor Joan Corwin. As I mentioned in an earlier post, this year marks the 100-year anniversary of World War I. My first Black Friday
Happy Black Friday. I’ve been mulling over this post; I don’t know why. Way back on the first of the month, Jim Daniel’s poem "Anthem" was featured on The Writer’s Almanac with Garrison Keillor.
