Hey there – it has been a long time, I know. Here's some stuff I found interesting. In addition to being a gifted writer David Abrams is generous. His blog site The Quivering Pen is worth investigating. Self-described as a book evangelist, he is always featuring recent books and articles on writing. He is the author of Fobbit and the upcoming book, Brave Deeds. I follow David Abrams on social media. That’s where I saw his mention of this article from Esquire, "Why … [Read more...]
Overlook (a poem)
Who wants to hear a political opinion? Not me. Overloaded, I won't add to the mix. Which leaves me wondering what to post. I had something in mind but it'll have to wait until next time. I'm hosting Thanksgiving and running out of time. I present you with my poem "Overlook," which originally appeared in The Stony Thursday Book, a Collection of Contemporary Poetry, (No. 8, Autumn 2009), edited by Ciaran O'Driscoll, and published by The Arts Office of Limerick City … [Read more...]
Glimpse of solace: In flight by Laura Rodley

I’m here to suggest you, especially Cubs fans who have stayed up late watching the games and then celebrating, put that hour to productive use: Take a nap. Crawl under the covers and think of yourself for once. You deserve it! I know I’ll be celebrating that way. I don’t have too … [Read more...]

Hey there sports fans! I am like many people in Chicago today -- nervous, unable to concentrate, wondering about the future. I have been remiss in letting you know what's new with Solace in So Many Words contributors, so here's some new info. Patty Somlo, whose prose piece "Learning to Breathe" appeared in SISMW, has a new … [Read more...]
