I think I first met Carol Kanter ("Her Best Medicine," "Alternative Eulogy" and "The Advanced Course") in the back of Books on Vernon when we both signed on for a poetry-writing class with Larry Starzec; he is a former businessman who came to poetry as a second career, studied at one of those low-residency programs and now teaches at Lake County College. Love the Irish
Everyone who knows me knows I have a thing for anything Irish. But that's not why I love Poetry Ireland. I love Poetry Ireland because it is the best poetry journal out there. Though the subscription is pricey, I will never let it lapse. And I can never let go of an issue because it is the kind of journal you can re-visit often and always find something of interest. Happy coincidences and hearty congrats
Just the other day, the contributor of two poems to Solace in So Many Words was named U.S. Poet Laureate. Of course it should come as no surprise as that contributor is none other than Philip Levine. But what a happy coincidence -- I am so proud to say that the nation's top poet is in Solace in So Many Words! The big news in poetry is that Philip Levine is the new U.S. Poet Laureate so we want to wish him congratulations! Oil and Water
“I don't really know how to express the excitement I had when I saw this beautiful scene,” says Kathy Buckland, photographer from Glenview, IL. “The water looked like oil and with the ripples on the surface, the reflection of the sailboat was an image I had to capture!
