Just the other day, the contributor of two poems to Solace in So Many Words was named U.S. Poet Laureate. Of course it should come as no surprise as that contributor is none other than Philip Levine. But what a happy coincidence -- I am so proud to say that the nation's top poet is in Solace in So Many Words! This past Sunday we felt the grace of Grace Place where Solace in So Many Words was the topic at the adult formation hour. Grace Place is the name for the first floor meeting room of Grace Episcopal Church, which is a storefront church with a second floor sanctuary. One question that has gone to the back burner of my mind but is still simmering is: Who left the cookies? On July 4 a paper plate of chocolate chip cookies wrapped in plastic was left between my front doors. No one in the household could tell me who left them. No one had seen a car back out of the drive or a neighbor scamper away. I wrote my number one suspect an email but she was downed by sciatica, unable to bake or scamper. The cookies sat on the table.
