08/01/2012 By Ellen Beals Leave a Comment

Authors’ Showcase at Printers Row Lit Fest

07/25/2012 By Ellen Beals Leave a Comment

Weighed Words was interviewed at Printers Row Lit Fest. I was the fourth publisher interviewed (and it is pretty apparent that I am new at this). Authors Showcase is a 30-minute cable TV show that promotes new authors and books.  It runs Thursday at 8pm on Chicago Cable Channel 25 or watch all the programs online whenever you want. As Authors Showcase explains, "Our goal is to introduce you to as many new books and authors as we can in thirty minutes. We understand this … [Read more...]

01/09/2012 By Ellen Beals Leave a Comment

I'm glad never to be caught up to date on reporting the news from Solace in So Many Words contributors because that means they are getting new publications every day.  But it also could mean I haven't paid attention to all my emails and news. So last week when I said I gave you the latest, well, I missed a few things.  At the reading at Woman Made Gallery I spoke with a woman in the audience and she said "March Wind" by Wally Swist was her favorite poem, and I could see why. … [Read more...]

Silesky After Hours

10/29/2011 By Ellen Beals Leave a Comment

This past Sunday I went to the American Artworks Gallery in Forest Park to attend a reading event for After Hours magazine in which Ellen T. McKnight, friend to Solace in So Many Words, was a featured reader (along with Christopher Gallinari). The venue was cozy, and like most readings emceed by Al DeGenova, who along with Pat Hertel edits After Hours, it had a relaxed and mellow vibe. After Hours is a one of Chicago’s great little magazines. Published twice a year … [Read more...]
