Slice of Solace: Thomas G. Fiffer

08/02/2013 By Ellen Beals

Fiffer from “Rubicons” … [Read more...]

Solace for the girls: Bras I have known

07/26/2013 By Ellen Beals 9 Comments

Bras I Have Known Bras have held me up and held me down and a few have been dear as well as near to my heart. So many I have wanted to keep as mementos. A nice young woman helped me select the flowers. I wanted some hanging plants but something different than potato vine or ivy. So she suggested these and I went along with the idea, probably not paying too much attention to her description other than it was a full-sun plant and drought … [Read more...]

The Chicago lit scene rocks!

07/10/2013 By Ellen Beals Leave a Comment

The Pop-Up Bookfair was Sunday at The Empty Bottle and it was a lot of fun. I've been singing the praises of Curbside Splendor Press and will continue to do so. Not only does Curbside have a great catalog, but it has amped up the lit scene in Chicago. Hosting various readings and events, like the Pop-Up Bookfair, Curbside has livened things up and been generous and supportive of all Chicago presses.  And one of the great things is that Victor David Giron and Jacob Knabb … [Read more...]
