Glimpse of solace: The Rose

This weekend I spent some time photographing flowers I purchased almost two weeks ago. The old roses captured my attention; they drew me in more than blooms in their prime. The petals were almost like skin. I know it’s been a while. Here’s some news. Kathleen Kirk has two poems and “If I Were the Cherry Wood Piano” and "The Body" in the latest issue of Rose Red Review. On April 16, Donna Hilbert’s poem “Gravity” was published on the Silver Birch site. Happy Poetry Month! Harumph, harrumph. It’s the smack dab middle of the month, also our tax deadline day, and in Chicago, the landscape is once again clearing from a surprise snow shower (see Glimpse of Solace).
